'Dog Paw' faces Court today - Feb 21, 2011
February 21, 2011

ALLEGED gang leader Christopher 'Dog Paw' Linton is scheduled to make his first appearance in the Home Circuit Court today on number of charges including murder and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Linton, who was featured on the country's most wanted list, is facing three counts of murder; three counts of shooting with intent; two counts of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition; one count of wounding with intent and one count of arson.

The alleged leader of the Dog Paw Gang was slapped with the charges following intensive interviews carried out by detectives following his capture on January 24 during an operation by the security forces in the St Andrew communities of Kintyre and Elletson Flats.

Linton was named as one of the country's most dangerous criminals last November by police who had asked him to surrender. He was wanted in connection with several murders and shootings in August Town.

However, Linton refused to turn himself over to the police, claiming that he was afraid that they would kill him. His fears were also echoed by his family members.

The police had also labelled Linton an extortionist and said he taunted them, stating that they would have to speak to his AK-47 assault rifle before they could take him in.

But in an exclusive interview with the Observer in December, Linton denied the AK-47 taunt and insisted that he was no extortionist. He also denied taking part in any murders or shootings for which the police had named him as a person of interest.
